Rock-n and Roels-n

We finally had our good friends Alain and Mary over for dinner Friday.
My have the kids grown.

Our Elle and their Natalie are right at a year apart and our bubbling baby boys are right at 4mos apart. Raising our kidos in the same town is going to be a lot of fun. I am already dreaming about the family vacations we can have!

Pretty Natalie!

Pumpkin Guttin and Cuttin

Halloween should be Saturday every year! It was so nice having the whole day to celebrate the holiday. Kordell even made it down.

After making some cookies, as we would need our energy, we started the prep work on our subjects. Changing an ordinarily large orange squash into a frightful Jack O Lantern takes some concentration and diligence. After carefully removing the cranial cap, the painfully gruesome task of removing its innards was at hand. In our strategy, I would do the hard task of cutting and the kids would begin the gutting. Well all kids except Liam, as I was sure he would eat it, yuck!! Imagine those Diapers!

Kordell began pulling the slime from the first pumpkin, in doing so a piece flew from his hand to Elle’s neck. Unfortunately this set the stage for Elle and this experience. As she cried for help I cleaned her neck, and sent her back out to help her oldest brother. She reached her tiny hand into the pumpkins cavity, grabbed a handful of guts and threw it in the bowl… all the while looking as if she was being tortured, or about to hurl.

A real look of horror over came her, and as we urged her to keep going… she raised her hands up, walked to me and said clearly “Nope, I don’t do this. I just don’t do this!”

I laughed, “Oh really? This is fun, you can wash your hands when we’re done.”
“Nope,” she declared, “I can’t.”
The tears and panic began to set in, and my little all girl Elle Bug HAD to wash her hands immediately.

As understanding and nice as her older siblings Jules and Kordell are, they finished cleaning our pumpkins. Daddy and Elle shared theirs and designed quite a frightful character. Elle’s drawing and imagination have really taken off. Jules and Kordell decided to try something different this year and made a cat. Turned out Great!

If anything Elle was successfully scared in the cleaning process.

Muahahahaha!

Cookie Monster

Most Mom's know the trick of giving their little one something to munch on while they get some chores completed. I for one have mastered this technique.

Yesterday I gave Liam his favorite, Chips Ahoy. He got so excited and just made a mess, as you can see. He had me laughing histerically while snapping the photos.

I am really loving this little Man.. so much fun!

Fall Picnic

Yes the summers here are HOT and Yes we spend a lot of time inside.. but when October comes around, and brings with her the Autumn weather, it takes everything to keep us inside.

This weekend we spent a few hours at a local park having a picnic and feeding the ducks. This was Liam's first picnic.. after tasting some grass and enjoying some lunch, he really got into the ducks. In fact he said "Duck" 3 times... Little Guys chasing after big sis's!

It was a great weekend!

Funny Talk

There is never a dull moment in this house... here are some quirky quotes from last summer.

Elle with a tummy ache and a cup of warm peppermint tea I gave her seated on the couch talking to Julia quietly, legs crossed, "I don't really like this coffee, its a little bit spicy", followed it with a lick of her lips and smack.

Jay and I both went to get Liam from school Friday.
I let Jay get Liam, so he could see him light up to see us.
But instead he was asleep and when I walked in he was crying in Jays arms.
He looked at me, curled his lip and said "Mmmawmee"... made my DAY!
That was the 2nd time Friday, he said it when he wanted out of his bed that morning too.
Its now a regular word in his vocab, along with an attempt at Kitty and his solid Dadda.

Laying on the ground crawling around with Liam.
me: Ok Liam say "Mama"
Liam: "Dadda"
me: No Liam "Mama"
Liam: "Dadda"
This went on for about 3 minutes.

We have this neat sandwiches cutter, it cuts the bread in half, but shaped like a dinosaurs.
Elle is a HUGE dino fan so she likes it.
I made some grilled cheese for the girls and used it, while eating
"This one is Charles" Elle pointed to her sandwich.
"Oh thats nice, I am going to eat my dinosaur" I said.
"Ok, I will eat mine." says Elle.
"I think I'll start with his head" I added.
I bit the head of the dinosaur and chewed away.
Elle said "Ok put it back, that wasn't very nice."

Heading to school last week, I was loading up the kids in the truck. Elle pointed up at the phone lines running behind our home. "Oh look Mom, A Chicken!!" she said pointing to a perched fat brown bird.

While watching the Dallas Cowboys....
Elle "Those men are not cowboys."
Julia "Yes they are the Dallas Cowboys."
Elle "No, cause there are no horses or hats."
